South John Street, New Quay, Ceredigion, Wales, SA45 9NN

Enter the village and continue until the junction with the sea horse pub, turn down the hill so the pub is on the right. Descend the entire hill which begins as Glanmor terrace and becomes  South John Street  and we are situated in a low roofed public building on the right-hand side immediately following the small green which overlooks  the harbour. Our entrance does not face the road so it is possible to miss if you’re driving.  If you get to the sharp left at the very bottom of the hill you’ve gone too far but our shop is visible from there.

Opening Times

Summer: 10 am – 3pm daily.  Closed Wednesday (out of season please telephone)

New Quay is a picturesque village in the heart of Ceredigion, popular with young and old alike for blue flag sandy beaches, Dylan Thomas and our semi resident population of bottlenose dolphins numbering approx. 300. The sea is richly endowed with sea life to be enjoyed in more than one way.

Shellfish including sweet tasting lobster, brown crab, Spider crab and Whelks as well as scallops and prawns. Wet fish such as Bass, Mullet, Turbot, Herring, Huss and of course Mackerel fresh off the boat. Most are available when in season (and/or by request) from our New Quay Fish Shop located just up from the very slipway the fishermen land their catch on.  Out of season and other produce are sourced further afield such as cockles (and king prawns) for the pleasure of customers who enjoy our take-away pots on the harbour wall at the end of a busy day on the beach.

The New Quay Fish Shop, owned and managed by Winston  Evans, a life-long local and fisherman who despite hanging up his fishing boots a few years ago is still on hand to share his knowledge of the local waters and respond to individual requirements for special occasions.

While you are visiting New Quay, you simply cannot depart without attempting to spot a dolphin from the harbour wall or go one better and join one of our dolphin spotting boat trips. From only eight pounds per adult for a one hour trip along the heritage coast to cwmtydu or even venture further on a two hour excursion to Ynys Llochtyn offering twice the chances of encountering bottlenose dolphins, and not to mention Atlantic grey seals. harbour porpoise and an abundance of sea birds. We also offer two, four and eight hour fishing trips so you can have a go at catching your own fish dinner.
