Ours is a very small company making almost anything in a jar! I started it in 1985, in Sussex, and then moved to Wales in 1992.  We are based at an old corn mill, which was also a farm, and the kitchen is in the former stable-cum-barn.  Since the building was in a very dilapidated condition it had to be practically rebuilt, to comply with modern hygiene requirements. And this is where we invite our customers to come and visit, to see the kitchen at work, and to taste  some of the preserves.

Everything is made by hand – exactly as you would make it in your own kitchen – given time and inclination…..! We have a range of at least 200 jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys, sauces, mustards and fruit vinegars. As long as we can source the ingredients, we are happy to make new preserves for you – many of the items on our list were originally requests from chefs or private customers.

We cook for hotels, restaurants, shops and private customers as far afield as Japan.  Orders are sent out on an overnight basis for stock items. If you want to send a mail order gift, remember to tell us what date it is to arrive, as well as giving us a message to go with it.

The team here consists of me (Wendy), my son Ian (who deals with accounts, despatch and all things organizational), and Zoe, Mair and Delyth in the kitchen. Outside we have 2 working pigs – Gertrude and Daisy – who are responsible for keeping the woodland tidy, plus a small group of Indian Runner ducks which is charged with keeping down the slug population…..  The pigs are Iron Age pigs – a cross between European wild boar and the Tamworth of the English  Midlands.

I am the gardener and you are most welcome to have a look round our small garden area.  The soil here is a very heavy clay – so not easy to manage.  This is why I opted for woodland for most of our 5 acres. The buildings themselves are attractive – all local stone. There is a farmhouse, mill, granary, barn (now a kitchen) and pig sty (where the ducks sleep – and hopefully lay their eggs!).

As you will see from the range of food businesses in this part of Wales, there is much to explore – plus beautiful beaches and hills, prehistoric remains, castles and a cathedral. There are several golf courses, riding, surfing, a coastal path to walk, islands populated only by birds, seals and dolphins out at sea…. We look forward to seeing you here!
